Cannoli Tubes: A DIY Cake Corer

A cake corer is an essential tool in the creation of many 3D sculpted cakes. I went on an online search and I couldn't find anyone who sells a cake corer. The plastic corer shown above is discontinued according to Wilton's website.

I've read that you can use a cannolli tubes to core a cake. Anyone try it?  Anyone have any other tips on how to core a cake? Let me know.

I think it's ingenious too! I tell you--have a cake problem--and someone will figure it out. :)

hi all,
what is the purpose of a corer when sculpting?

You push a hole in the cake to make it easier to stack on the armature.

I use the oxo apple corer. I like it because it has a "slide" type thing that help eject the core you removed the apple - and that works for removing the cake core too.
